Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a procedure to examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva of the women to diagnose any sign of disease that occurs in that region. It is a safe procedure. Usually, it is carried out in the hospital and takes around 15 to 20 minutes. The patient can go home after the procedure is over. The patient can eat or drink normally before the procedure.
Colposcopy is recommended to prevent cervical cancer by detecting and treating precancerous lesions in the early stages. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a common infection that causes most of cervical cancers.
Some of the other reasons to have a colposcopy is to assess Diethylstilbestrol (DES) exposure in utero, immunosuppression,or abnormal appearance of the cervix.
The results help the doctor to decide for further pathological examinations if required.
Colposcopy is done at AKSHAYA WOMEN'S CARE by a qualified, experienced team of doctors with much care.
